The purpose of this study is to investigate the Hallux valgus among deformities of feet for college women majoring in ballet and to compare the Hallux valgus of left foot with that of right so that its result can be applied as a basis for preventing the deformity of hallux valgus and for supplementary aid for healing the deformity. In this connection available data were also examined.
Subjects of this study included 21 college women majoring in ballet for 5 years or longer who are living in Kyonggi-do, Korea, December 1997. As a tool for the ´study radiograph was taken for front and `rear part of their feet and Hallux valgus angle(HVA) was measured. In the course of such examination for measurement of hallux valgus angle, the angle, formed "by crossing, of vertical axis of -second toe and vertical axis of No. 1 metatarsus was measured with angle gauge and then depending, on the angles they were divided into four grades which are as follows 0 Grade ￡15, 15° <1st Grade￡20° , 20° <2nd Grade￡40° , 40° <3rd Grade. Herein the 0 Grade was set in the normal category and under statistical method average(M) and standard deviation (SD) were, calculated then for testing significance, t-test is conducted(independent t-test) and level of significance was set to be p<0.05 through testing. Main results are:
1. As regards hallux valgus of college women majoring in ballet there has been no significant difference between their left and. right foot (p>0.05). 2. Hallux valgus of college women majoring in ballet was slightly higher at left foot than right foot.
